This two-pin set was sold at an El Capitan Theatre screening of The Rocketeer on June 21, 2011, commemorating the film’s 20th anniversary. Two pins depict the Cirrus X-3 rocket pack, one from a straight-on view and one from a side view.
The pins use a painted black base metal with no marking or lettering, unlike most Disney pins.
The backer card is made of a thick paperboard folded in a booklet-like fashion. The front of the booklet depicts a Hughes Industries 1939 New York World’s Fair poster, while the back cover includes a Rocketeer logo and the D23 logo. The interior of the booklet features an image of a letter from Howard Hughes to the New York World’s Fair as well as schematics for the rocket pack.
