Pin Description:
This is the fourth of 12 mystery pins released at WDW in 2000 and 2001. This pin features the Fab 5 holding hands intertwined with the year 2000. It says Olympic Spirit on the bottom and has the Walt Disney World logo on the top. The back indicates that it's an LE of 1500.Surprise pins were a series of unannounced pins that were released in a single location, and usually LE 1000. Also, known as Mystery Pins, but that term has taken on a different meaning as Disney Pin Trading has evolved. This pin was only released at WDW.
9/24/2000 note: "This is an LE 1500 and was released throughout WDW property today at 39 venues, each receiving from 12 at the resorts to 300 at EPCOT. The pin retailed for $8.00. We have been told that AK sold out within minutes of opening as did MGM (which had early entry today). Pin Central at EPCOT sold out by 9 am and the crowd headed to the American Adventure for the 11 am opening. Wonderful World of Disney at DTD had a line starting at a little after 8 am this morning and sold out immediately."
