Pin Description:
Inspired by artwork created by the Disney Design Group, this Jumbo pin is from a collection of 20 Jumbo pins. Each Jumbo pin celebrates 50 Years of Disney Theme Parks and is packaged in a box. An Artist Bio is also included with the pin. Disney Design Group Artist Dawn Ockstadt has titled this pin "Lighting Up Smiles." The pin commemorates the Main Street Electrical Parade. The Main Street Electrical Parade began its run at The Magic Kingdom on June 11, 1977. The pin features Elliot from Pete's Dragon on the left ear and the snail wearing yellow glasses on the right ear. The middle piece is covered in small red jewels, with "MAIN STREET ELECTRICAL PARADE" written in a pin-on-pin element in the center. Dawn's bio reads: "In 1994, I left the cold winters of Detroit, Michigan for a sunny future in Florida. While my original dream was to work within Feature Animation, fate led me next door, literally, to the amazingly creative Disney Design Group as an Associate Production Artist. This hat was inspired by my husband, Karl, who introduced me to the Walt Disney World Electrical Light Parade and my family who endured countless laser disc viewings of Pete's Dragon."
