Pin Description:
Minnie Mouse wears a dusky-pink kimono/robe with a red hair bow, and is holding an orange leaf as a fan. It is gold metal with a serrated edge and a black background. She perhaps represents Princess Iron Fan. The Chinese characters on the pin read "Journey to the East in '97 to have fun", presumably to Hong Kong which returned to Chinese rule in 1997. This is a reference to the Chinese folk tale "Journey to the West", the tale of a Buddhist Monk who travels from China to the West (India) on a quest, with fellow travelers and meeting many entities along the way. The postage denomination on the pin are in Hong Kong dollars. The source of the pins is unknown, as is the year of release. SIZE: approx. 1 5/8" H x 1 1/8" W (4.0cm x 2.8cm). The back of the pin is stamped in black ink: "© Disney" (in script) and "MADE IN CHINA" (smaller letters).Updated 2023-11-04 22:25:16
