This matted/framed 30-pin limited edition set was available on Main Street in Disneyland to commemorate the United States' participation in the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. It features 29 pins depicting Olympic events (featuring Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Goofy or Pluto on each pin). The 30th pin is a Logo pin, featuring Sleeping Beauty Castle. This set may have also been sold in Seoul. The pins feature Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy or Pluto on each pin, participating in an Olympic event. The pins have a background color of either red, white, or blue (10 each). All pins have a clear epoxy top coating, are rectangular with gold trim, the Olympic rings, and the words "Disneyland Olympic Team Salute 1988 USA. 1 1/4"W x 7/8"H. The 30th pin (#4633) is dark blue with the Sleeping Beauty Castle at the top in rainbow hues-a gold arc above it. Beneath-USA and the Olympic rings in gold, followed by the words "Olympic Team Salute 1988, Disneyland.” This framed set with center commemorative plaque, is missing one of the event/character pins. The 1988 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXIV Olympiad and commonly known as Seoul 1988, was an international multi-sport event held from September 17 to October 2, 1988, in Seoul, South Korea. 159 nations were represented at the games by a total of 8,391 athletes (6,197 men/2,194 women). 237 events were held and 27,221 volunteers helped to prepare for the Olympics. The United States had 527 athletes participate. Team USA placed 3rd in the number of metals: 94 total (36-gold, 31-silver, 27-bronze).
