The design of the pin itself features a number of Disney's California Adventure opening day icons. These include the entrance gates, the California themed cutouts, the elephant and sign from Hollywood Pictures Backlot, California Screamin', Grizzly Peak, the Maliboomer, and the Orange Stinger.

This pin was only available in an acrylic and wooden display that features a commemorative Disney's California Adventure ticket, the pin, and a plaque featuring the date of the park's opening. This pin is limited edition of 2001, and the pins were split between two different commemorative display types— a Deluxe edition featuring the pin, ticket and plaque (limited to 1,501), and Premier Edition including a titanium sunray cutout plus the feature of the Deluxe Edition (limited to 500 pieces).
