DLR - Magical Milestones: A Pin Celebration - 1959 - Disneyland® Monorail Opens This Open Edition pin remembers 1959 and the Opening of the Disneyland® Monorail in Tomorrowland®. This dangle pin features the original poster advertising the monorail. The red monorail featured on the dangle is a pin-on-pin. This pin was designed by Chris Chapman from Disney Design Group. Did you know? This attraction opened on June 14, 1959 and it was the first daily operating monorail in the United States. The Monorail beam was extended, with the new Mark II trains, to the Disneyland® Hotel in 1961. At that time, it was the first monorail in the United States to actually cross a public street.
